Ajmal Ramyar Represents Afghan Youth at UN’s Fourth Conference on Financing for Development

Ajmal Ramyar, Head Executive of Afghans for Progressive Thinking (APT), participated in the Fourth Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) held in Seville, Spain, as a sponsored delegate from the UN Youth Office.

During the summit, Mr. Ramyar engaged with global policymakers, youth leaders, and civil society representatives, contributing insights at two official side events. At the first, titled “On the Frontlines of Change: What Youth-Led Organizations Need for Advancing Sustainable, Just, and Equitable Societies,” he shared recommendations for sustainable funding models that empower youth-led organizations, especially those led by young women and marginalized groups.

In the second session, “Financing for Development in the HDP Nexus,” Mr. Ramyar highlighted challenges faced by youth-led peacebuilding initiatives in fragile settings like Afghanistan. Drawing from APT’s grassroots work, he called for conflict-sensitive and locally-responsive financing mechanisms to promote long-term peace, justice, and inclusion.

Ajmal Ramyar emphasized on the crucial role of youth in advancing human rights, education, and peacebuilding in challenging environments. The event fostered cross-cultural dialogue, solidarity, and renewed hope for inclusive development through collective action.
