Introduction

Through our Mentorship, we aim to strengthen the capacity of young women in Afghanistan by enhancing their skills in critical thinking and reflective writing. Our program has two components. The first component will focus on building the critical thinking skills of the participants. It will teach them how to build an argument or refute one with reason and evidence.
The second component will teach reflective writing skills. This will enable participants to turn their observations of the situation on the ground into writing pieces that would be shared with a wider audience through a published booklet. These components are implemented by professional trainers and lecturers with ample experience and knowledge from around the world.

Program Objective

The main objective of our program is to build the capacity of young women in Afghanistan. By enhancing the problem-solving and writing skills of our participants, we prepare them for their future career or further education. In addition, by brining young women with different backgrounds from across Afghanistan together, we build and strengthen their network so they can work collectively toward a common goal.

Activities:

In our mentorship program, we organize sessions on critical thinking, conflict analysis and reflective writing for our participants. In addition, we will organize sessions on citation and references to further equip the young women with necessary skills in writing and research. During this program, the participants will be divided into groups to write articles in light of the current situation in Afghanistan. At the end of the program, we will publish their articles in a Booklet to portray the severe challenges that youth face in Afghanistan and, simultaneously, amplify their call and demand from the International community.

Eligibility Criteria

Who are eligible?
  • Female participants.
  • Must be citizen of Afghanistan and currently live in the country.
  • Applicants who have proficiency in English Language.
  • Applicants who have good communication and team work skills.
  • Applicants who have information about research.
  • Applicants who have access to Internet.
  • Applicants with community engagement activities are preferred.
  • Applicants with certificates in English language are preferred.

Who is not eligible?
  • Applicants who cannot speak and write in English language.
  • Applicants who don’t have basic information about research..
  • Applicants who don’t have proper Internet connection.
  • Applicants who have already graduated from the mentorship program.

All eligible applicants will be invited for an online interview and writing test.

After your selection, you will be invited to participate in the sessions. There will be an orientation session at the start of the program through which you will be provided with the necessary information about the classes and materials.

Selection Committee

The applicants’ application review and selection process will be conducted by a selection committee of APT employees including the Executive Director and program management team.
