Afghan Youth Representative to the United Nation 2025

APT is proud to announce the selection of Aziza Akrami as the Afghan Youth Representative to the United Nations for 2025. Her appointment follows a multi-stage selection process that began when applications opened on February 11, 2025, inviting Afghan youth living outside Afghanistan to apply. Candidates were assessed based on their leadership potential, understanding of Afghan youth issues, their commitment to Afghanistan and human rights, particularly women’s rights , and ability to represent diverse perspectives of both women and men from, including those living inside the country and abroad

As part of the final selection, candidates participated in high-level meetings in Brussels and The Hague, including discussions with the European External Action Service, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, and virtual dialogue with Afghan youth. These engagements offered a platform to exchange views on youth participation, humanitarian challenges, and international policy.

As AYR-UN 2025, Aziza will advocate for education access, gender equality, women’s access tiand meaningful youth participation at the United Nations, carrying forward the voices and aspirations of Afghan youth worldwide.
