On August 19, 2026, Afghans for Progressive Thinking (APT) launched a new cohort of its Mentorship for Higher Education Programme, supporting Afghan women who face barriers to pursuing higher education in Afghanistan. The three-month programme connects participants with international mentors based on their academic interests and goals.
Through regular one-on-one mentorship, participants receive guidance on university selection, scholarship applications, CVs, personal statements, recommendation letters, and interview preparation. They also take part in group sessions covering the university and scholarship application process, academic CVs, personal statements, document review, and professional development.
To strengthen their academic readiness, participants are receiving English-language support, including academic English and TOEFL/IELTS preparation. Weekly check-ins provide continued guidance and an opportunity to discuss progress and challenges, while selected participants will also receive support toward their TOEFL examination fees.
Through mentorship, skills development, and continued support, APT is helping Afghan women strengthen their applications, access higher education opportunities abroad, and build pathways toward their academic and professional goals despite the barriers they face at home.
