The Afghan Youth Inclusion Mechanism held a consultation meeting at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, bringing together Afghan youth from inside the country and the diaspora. The session marked the beginning of drafting the Afghan Youth Inclusion Strategy aimed at strengthening youth participation and representation at national and international levels.
During the meeting, participants engaged in group discussions on key themes including safe youth participation, collaboration between youth inside Afghanistan and the diaspora, representation, and advocacy priorities. Both in-person and online participants contributed ideas and recommendations that will inform the upcoming policy framework and future advocacy efforts.
The meeting also included the participation of Richard Bennett, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Afghanistan, who highlighted ongoing human rights concerns and the importance of amplifying youth voices, particularly those of young women.
