Since 2021, Afghan youth, especially young women, have lost safe and formal avenues to participate in national and international decision-making. Despite continued activism, their voices remain absent from policy discussions and peace processes. No official youth delegates were included in peace efforts, including the Doha peace process, leaving young people as observers of decisions shaping their future rather than participants in them.

The mandate of the Afghan Youth Representative to the United Nations proposes a youth-led consultation to develop a practical policy framework placing Afghan youth at the center of national and global decision-making. The mechanism will be grounded in protection, participation, representation, accountability, and meaningful links between youth inside Afghanistan and the diaspora.

We are seeking young leaders with a strong background in policy development and youth-led advocacy, who are already located in Geneva, Switzerland and committed to in-person event.
